Getting a good night’s sleep can be a constant struggle for some people. My nights are usually spent tossing, turning, finding the most comfortable position and just struggling to get the sleep that I need. While I lay in bed pretending to fool myself that I’ll fall asleep anytime soon, the clock continues to tick and before I know it, just 2 more hours left till my alarm goes off.
I know getting a good night’s sleep may seem like an impossible goal especially when you’re wide awake at 3 am staring blankly at your ceiling. But trust me, it’s not. All we have to do is to do a few tweaks, few changes in our lifestyle and of course minimize the intake of all the unhealthy food that we are consuming just before bedtime. And to help you out, I gathered 5 of my favorite food that makes sleeping easier.
Chamomile Tea
Now this is what I frequently use. I normally worry about a lot of things before bedtime, which makes me so stress and anxious, drinking this not only helps me sleep faster but it also helps in keeping me calm; since they are naturally known for their relaxing, sleep-inducing properties. So, let’s make it a habit to avoid sugary drinks just before bedtime and go for chamomile tea instead.

Tart Cherries
Tart cherries are a great source of melatonin, which aids in our sleep-wake cycle. In fact, studies show that tart cherries contain higher levels of melatonin compared to other cherries. Eating a handful of tart cherries just before bedtime will certainly help us get that much needed sleep.
Bananas
Bananas are packed with nutrients, such as protein, calcium, potassium, fiber, magnesium, Vitamin B6 and C and biotin. Eating a banana before bedtime will increase our intake of those nutrients and will naturally help us get a good night’s sleep. So, if you’re planning to get a midnight snack, choose a banana.

Cheese
Some may refer to cheese as a “calming food”. Studies show that eating a chunk of cheese before bedtime helps in reducing stress and stabilizes our brain’s nerve fibers. It also contains tryptophan (a sleep-inducing compound) that will help us get that good night’s sleep.
Honey
We all know how honey can do amazing things to our health but not only that, this can also help us with our sleeping problems. Studies show that the natural sugar found in honey increases our insulin and allows tryptophan to easily enter our brains. So, taking a spoonful of honey just before bedtime can certainly do wonders!
