3 Easy Steps to Boost your Morning Mood

Home » Posts » 3 Easy Steps to Boost your Morning Mood

While some people jump out of their beds the moment their alarm goes off, sing while their taking their showers, well, I’ am the exact opposite. I’ am not a morning person. I just dread the thought of waking up early and going to work the next day. If you are like me, then that is perfectly okay. We don’t have to program ourselves to be someone we’re not.

However, the mood that we have the moment that we get up might have a big impact on our overall productivity and attitude throughout the day. I’ve realized that the more I tell myself how awful it is to get out of bed and go to work, the more my day goes from bad to worse. And we all know how exhausting it is to live with extreme stress day after day. So, we may not be able to program ourselves to become a morning person but let’s at least try to boost our moods the moment we wake up and make our day a lot happier and less stressful.

I’ll be sharing to you 3 steps to add to your morning routine (aside from our normal routine: shower, breakfast, get ready) that will help boost our mood.

Be Grateful

The moment that your alarm goes off, try to spend 3-5 minutes thinking of all the things that you are grateful for. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is. As long as it makes you happy, that’s more than enough. Remind yourself of how lucky and blessed you are to have those things that you’ve thought of and it can certainly do wonders. Like for me, since I hated the thought of going to work, I reminded myself of the smiles I see on my family’s faces (since they were the main reason I stayed on that job), that surely makes going to work a lot bearable.

Read daily affirmations

May it be an excerpt on your favorite book, or inspirational thoughts that you’ve written on your journal, or motivational quotes that you found on the internet, anything for that matter as long as it makes you feel good; it won’t take so much of your time but it will certainly boost your outlook and confidence. Normally for me, if I had a bad day, or if I made a major mistake and totally hate myself for doing it, I read motivational quotes that reminds me of how amazing I’ am. Because sometimes, we all need that extra push, that extra reminder that we are amazing and we can do this! Motivational reading is like a mental exercise that will help us become more mentally strong throughout the day.

Do something that makes you happy

Try to do one thing each day that makes you happy. It doesn’t have to be big, it doesn’t even have to take so much of your time. It could be playing with your pet, spending time cuddling your children (bear hugs), eating your favorite breakfast, drinking your favorite coffee, anything that makes you happy.
