5 easy steps to find yourself when you are feeling lost

Remember the time when we used to have everything figured out? Like back when we were kids, we used to be so sure on what we want to be or on how we’d like our lives to turn out when we grow up. But as we continue to live each and every day, that certainty that we had when we were kids slowly fades, suddenly everything changes, our paths become cloudy and our minds are filled with uncertainty, we then realize that we are lost.

As we grow older, as we experience more failures, struggles and face more battles we often lose sight on who we really are and what we are capable of doing. However, being lost doesn’t mean that we have to stay lost. Being lost is not our destination instead it’s just simply a quick layover. So, don’t beat yourself up just because you are not sure on what direction to take, instead focus all your energy to pull yourself back and find your way again. Remember that being lost doesn’t matter, it’s what you do to find yourself that’s important.

Here are 5 easy steps to help you find yourself when you are feeling lost.

Pause. Breathe. Listen

In order to find yourself again, you need to take a break from all the stress life has been giving you and just BREATHE. With all the hustle and bustle of life, it’s easy to get lost with all the noise. It’s important to take a step back, allow yourself to breathe and see the world on a different perspective, listen to what you want. Listen to your deepest dreams and desires and don’t be afraid if you think that your dreams are too big, remember that nothing is impossible until you decide that it is.

Find your passion and do the things that you love

We all have a passion for something. That one thing that keeps our soul burning, that thing that makes us jump out of bed and ignites our heart with excitement. When we are too busy of doing the same old routine, we often lose sight and forget the things that we love to do, the things that fills our soul and make our hearts happy. So, ask yourself, when was the last time you’ve done something like this? Stop making excuses and start doing the things that you love. Find that passion that was once burning inside you and when you do find it have the courage to fulfill it.

Get out of your comfort zone

Being in your comfort zone is certainly not bad however this is not the place that you would want to stay in. Growth won’t happen if you are too afraid too take that risk, too afraid totake that chance. You will never grow if you won’t challenge yourself. Life is always about learning, so always push yourself to your fullest potential and you will then be amazed to see all that you have achieved, things that you’ve never even thought that you are capable of doing.

Believe in yourself

As cliché as this may sound but most of the time the reason why we stay lost is that we often forget that we are capable of doing great things (as long as we set our hearts and mind to it); we easily forget how amazing we are. So, every time you find yourself lost, always remember that you have the power to do amazing things, you have the power to change your current situation, don’t give up and certainly don’t be discouraged instead pick yourself up and Believe in Yourself.

Have courage

It’s not easy to recognize and admit and that you are lost but it takes a great deal of courage to find yourself back. We are often too scared to turn to the next direction, too afraid to make a mistake, that we just allow ourselves to be lost. We settle – that’s what we normally do. We already know that we are lost yet we are too afraid to do something about it or oftentimes, we get too discouraged to even try to pick ourselves up, thinking that finding ourselves is hopeless. Remember it is you who decide whether it’s hopeless or not. It will only be hopeless if you allow it to be, you have the power to createthe life you desire, the power to pull yourself together and find who you are. All you have to do is to have enough courage to do so.

  1. Feeling lost is a good way to describe it! For me it was like I was on a raft by myself in a storm in the dark, windy and raining. Reaching out to my best friend every time I felt this way saved me. She never made me feel like I was losing my mind. Just kept reminding me how important I was and that things would get better. She never judged or corrected my thoughts…listening without criticism. I would worry that I was going to burn her out. She would tell me “I’m your biggest fan!” Things are better more often than not now…she is always my go to!
